ROYAL Shakespeare Company actors enthralled pupils from South Warwickshire when they brought a children's version of Macbeth to Bidford-on-Avon C of E Primary School.
The school was chosen to host the play from the whole of South Warwickshire.
Years five and six at the school were joined by other pupils also aged nine to 11 from Welford Primary School and Temple Grafton C of E Primary School.
"It was the most astonishing experience, we had over 172 children in the school and they were spellbound for more than one and a half hours," said Ellen Honeybunn, Bidford-on-Avon C of E Primary School head teacher.
"The actor's held the children's attention - they had a combination of powerful movements and real expressive music. The children had done preparation work on the story.
"It was the first time the actors had come to the school and the first time many of the children had seen a live performance.
"It was very immediate because the children were sitting right up to the stage, so in the fight scenes they felt part of the action. It was brilliant."
The play took place on Wednesday, October 6.
