THE cast of Carpet Trades Operatic Society's latest production received a deserved standing ovation on Monday night.
I have seen Oklahoma! so many times that I know all the songs and most of the dialogue, but I enjoyed every minute of it.
Daphne Knight was in her element as Aunt Eller, her comedy timing being spot on, and she obviously enjoyed working with her grand-daughter, Kathryn Knight, who gave an excellent performance as Laurey.
Julian Richards has played the part of Curly several times, but he has never played it better, and I haven't heard him sing so well before.
Callum McArthur has perfected the part of Jud Fry - again a superlative performance, and Sarah Richards was a brilliant choice for Ado Annie.
Chris Paine reprised his role as Will Parker, again spot-on casting.
I can't fault anything in this glorious show. Mosey on down to Oklahoma this week. VJS
