ON Monday, both senior and junior choirs met in St Mary's, Longdon, to rehearse for the forthcoming harvest festival.
On Sunday, the harvest festival service takes place in St Mary's Church at 5pm. The church choir will sing an anthem and Alex Thompson will sing two items in preparation for the Chorister of the Year final on October 30. Immediately following this service will be the harvest super in Longdon village hall. All are warmly welcomed to attend both the service of thanksgiving and the supper.
On Tuesday, Longdon St Mary's Primary School will be holding its annual harvest festival service in church to which family and friends are warmly invited. The theme this year is sharing the world's resources and attention will be drawn to fair trade issues. The children will be bringing their filled shoe boxes for the Operation Christmas Child appeal. The boxes, filled with useful items and treats, will be distributed to children in need overseas. They are hoping to collect 100 boxes, a notable achievement for a small rural primary school.
The local youth group Outer Limits will meet on Saturday, October 23 at 7pm in Longdon vicarage.
