MALVERN Radar maintained their 100 per cent league record against previously unbeaten Oak Apple in a hard-fought match at Victoria Park last Sunday.

MALVERN RADAR 4, OAK APPLE 3

Radar took the lead with a second minute penalty when Lee Brookes was pushed in the area, Clive Churchill making no mistake from the spot.

The lead only lasted four minutes however when a long through ball found Kevin Insall, whose first effort was superbly saved by Chris Ball but rebounded nicely to Insall who easily scored.

The goals came thick and fast with Radar taking the lead on 13 minutes. Gary Harman's long cross seemed to be heading towards Oak keeper Darren Wise only for his team mate Jay Roberts to rise majestically and flick the ball into his own net.

Radar knew that the visitors wouldn't give up and following a corner they almost equalised, only for Shaun Roberts's header to clip the top of the bar. They were soon level when following a scramble the ball fell nicely to Richard Wise, who crashed the ball into the net from 12 yards. Both teams were getting stuck in but Radar kept their composure and took the lead with a great break out from defence. Lee Hooper set up Darren Baker, who had ran the full length of the pitch to score with a well-placed shot into the bottom corner.

The second half carried on in the same fashion with Radar going 4-2 up on the hour. A free kick was awarded to them some 20 yards out and Lee Hooper caught everyone out by firing the ball into the net while the Oak's defence were still trying to organise a wall.

The Oak fought back and when defender Gary Harman hesitated for a split second, Insall nipped in again to nudge the ball passed Ball. Stout defending restricted the Oak to a few long range efforts and in the end Radar claimed the points quite comfortably.

This Sunday Radar are away to Worcester Juniors, meet RSRE Club at 9.30am.
