AFTER their robust performance the previous week against unbeaten Perrywood, where Welland came from behind to share the points, Welland galvanised themselves for Hallow in the Baylis Cup having lost 3-1 to them earlier in the league.

HALLOW WMC 1, WELLAND ATHLETIC 4

With Hallow edging the first 20 minutes and Welland the next 15, it was against the run of play when Hallow scored first after a long ball was neatly played round Welland's Radnor and the keeper from the edge of the box.

Welland responded with a ten pass move resulting in a fine shot but well saved. Tom Crump and Lee Manion chased down every ball as Hallow tried to pass the ball around at the back and their effort was rewarded when Crump forced the keeper into a mistake leaving him a simple tap-in from close range.

Welland's direct style in the second half, based on the solid back four of Radnor, Jelleyman, Thackeray and Postens with Nineham and Kitchener in midfield, had Hallow tiring as they chased shadows.

On 60 minutes a corner nodded forward saw Lee Manion run through and score, followed ten minutes later by Crump's second.

After a one-two with Manion, Crump completed his hat-trick with ten minutes to go after brilliant all round performance.

Good performances from newcomers Ade Whittal-Williams in goal, Brad Green and substitute Chris Broadbent. Tom Crump dedicated his hat-trick to youngsters Brendan and Blain Taylor who had helped Tom over his recent difficult period.

Welland, sponsored by Kings Head, are at home to Martley Spurs tomorrow (Saturday), kick -off 3pm at the Hill.
