RICH Bryan's two-goal haul set Anchor Falcons on their way to a fourth straight win on Sunday, beating old rivals Bringsty Sports at Dysons in this Worcester Sunday Division Three encounter.
ANCHOR FALCONS 4, BRINGSTY SPORTS 1
In a typically bruising 90 minutes, played in front of a healthy crowd, Anchor continued to show why they have made such an impressive start to the season, as they overcame a strong resistance from the visitors to claim all three points.
An unchanged home team had the better of the early exchanges although they found the Bringsty defence difficult to break down with only Dave Jenkinson and Paul Park having half chances to break the deadlock.
At the other end a couple of difficult moments for Falcons' keeper Marcus Henney were dealt with easily by the home side's new first choice keeper. The deadlock was broken on 21 minutes, when Anchor's Rich Bryan fired a thunderous shot across the area into the far corner after good work by Jenkinson and Park.
Bringsty pulled level on 34 minutes when they bundled the ball home from close range, probably a deserved scoreline of 1-1 going into half time. However, the Falcons had other ideas and just minutes before the interval Jenkinson latched onto Henney's clearance to lob the ball neatly over the advancing keeper.
After the break Anchor probed for a third and although it was a while coming, their defensive qualities kept Bringsty at bay with Mike Berry commanding well from centre half. Rich Bryan proved the match winner when he converted his second and Anchor's third on 65 minutes with a deft finish from the right hand side of the box, taking the man-of-the-match accolade with it.
Paul Park completed the scoring on 76 minutes with a crisp finish from the edge of the box from Bryan's pull back.
On Sunday Anchor will attempt to continue their winning run when Dears Leap Athletic entertain the Falcons, with the venue to be announced today (Friday) via the club phone.
