RE: Ms Harbourne's letter (Malvern Gazette, September 24) regarding the re-opening of public footpath number 73 to the rear of Redland Road.
I am aware that many properties along Redland Road are subject to an historic right of access across the rear garden of the adjoining property. This right is fervently defended by the users, and quite correctly so.
To this effect it is my right to walk along a designated footpath and it is also the county council's duty to ensure that this footpath is passable.
