Malvern Library will close for 12 days in next stage of its refurbishment.
The main part of the library will shut from November 1-12, while work starts on a new rear extension.
The customer service centre and computer learning centre will remain open throughout. People will also be able to take out extra books in advance and return them to a special desk during the closure period.
The work on the library is to build a large two-storey replacement for an existing 1940s extension. This will house a quiet area, exhibition space, book storage and internet room. A new staircase and lift between the two floors will also be built.
Worcestershire strategic libraries manager Nigel Preedy said: "The customer service centre will retain normal opening hours and the Learn Direct centre, at the front of the building, will not be affected by the building work.
"The main part of the library will be closed so that construction equipment can be moved on to the site and work can be started."
Community library manager at Malvern Keith Barber stressed that customers would not face book fines because of the work.
He said: "People will be able to take additional books and other materials in the period leading up to the closure but no books will be stamped with a due date during that time.
"There will also be a desk in the library where people can hand books in and our telephone renewals service will still be running."
The work will take around 14 months to complete.
