UNBEATEN Worcester Wolves aim to continue their impressive start to the basketball season as they face two matches in 24 hours this weekend.
Wolves journey to London United this evening for their second English Basketball League Division One encounter of the season before travelling to Coventry Crusaders for a National Cup third round tie tomorrow (2pm).
Today's match in London represents an opportunity for the Wolves to exact some revenge.
Having been on the losing side on past occasions, Mick Donovan is confident his players can spring a surprise with a fully fit squad brimming with confidence born out of their unbeaten start to the season.
Wolves' director of basketball said: "When we used to play them a couple of years ago they used to give us a good hiding. They will be quite confident they can beat us again, but they haven't seen us play for ages. Everybody is fit.
"Colin Chiverton and Ty Shaw have both been outstanding so far and no defences have been able to cope with them. They are both big and quick which is rare in basketball so if those two continue to do well we shall be in business."
The team is looking to build on last week's 90-77 home victory over Kingston Wildcats, Wolves' debut in Division One.
"We played well on Saturday," Donovan said. "Defensively we feel we need to improve, but London will be a physically bigger side than Kingston.
"We are looking forward to every game. If we can finish in mid-table it will be a good season."
Away from league action, Wolves are also enjoying a good run in two cup competitions. They have already recorded three victories in their National Trophy pool and tomorrow attempt to progress in the National Cup, basketball's equivalent of football's FA Cup.
Coventry Crusaders stand between Wolves and a quarter-final place and, if past form is anything to go by, their chances of success are high.
Donovan added: "We have beaten them the last five times we have played them, but if we play as well as we can and they play as well as they can, we will beat them. That's the plan anyway."
The reward is a home match in the last eight on November 7 and Donovan is only too aware of what it would mean to reach that stage and beyond.
