AS a floating voter, I was interested in what the parties had to say at their conferences.
Although understanding what the Lib Dems, Labour and UKIP were outlining, I am hard-pressed to understand how the Conservatives were able to promise such a huge amount of extra spending while reducing taxes at the same time. They said it would all be funded from sacking civil servants, but surely it is civil servants who run JobCentres, Passport Offices, DVLA, Customs Officers and so on. They say they will implement an even more draconian immigration policy than Labour - but how can this be done without employing many more civil servants?
They also say they will build more prisons and increase drug rehabilitation places tenfold but these policies will surely need many many more civil servants to staff them. I find it very difficult to understand.
