n THAT Europhiles have a vision for a better world is to be applauded.

That they seek peace, harmony and friendship with others is most worthy.

What I cannot grasp is why the blinkers come out as soon as the EU is mentioned. There is little to be gained from pretending that the problems have solutions. They do not.

The corruption has increased and The Court of Auditors still refuses to sign off the accounts, nine years after its formation.

The MEPs remain as puppets to the Commission and the Council of Ministers. Debate continues to be absurdly curtailed.

Measures are passed, often at the ridiculous rate of 90-plus per hour.

Measures rejected continue to return until accepted. Democracy is a joke.

The Common Agricultural Policy remains untouched after 30 years of promised reform.

EU laws continue to steamroller over our own and so many rules and regulations come out of Brussels that they are almost beyond scrutiny.

Our freedoms continue to be eroded month on month and the Civil Contingencies Bill would have been savaged by the Left had it been from our government.

As it has an EU history, it is welcomed. Little wonder that UKIP are threatening to change the face of British politics.
