LONDON: Horserider Leslie Law will be trotting off to Buckingham Palace today to collect his long-awaited Olympic gold medal in the presence of the Queen.
Law, from Upton-upon-Severn, originally finished second in the Three Day Event in Athens this summer but was awarded the Gold after Germany's Bettina Hoy collected a 12-point penalty for crossing the start line twice in the show-jumping.
He is also expected to take part in a parade of all Britain's Olympic medallists, starting at midday from the Ritz Hotel in Piccadilly and culminating in a celebration at Trafalgar Square.
The Queen is then holding a reception for all the athletes at Buckingham Palace.
Mr Law was also presented with a specially-made iron medal and two bottles of Greek wine from the people of Worcestershire and Herefordshire in a special ceremony at Worcester Racecourse on Friday.
