WORCESTER residents are to be quizzed over the future of the former Ronkswood Hospital.
As the city council plans the future of the Newtown Road site, more than 1,200 homes in the Ronkswood and Newtown Road area of Worcester are receiving leaflets outlining the options available.
They are also being invited to attend one of two half-day exhibitions at the Salvation Army Hall, Lichfield Avenue. Council officers will be on hand to explain potential options and hear people's opinions.
At the exhibition, questionnaires will be handed out, and the council hopes they will be returned by mid-November.
Opportunities
The 19-acre site - which has been vacant since 2002 - is set aside to create employment opportunities, and this is likely to restrict plans for the site, said planning officer Brian Roberts. However, the site was full of potential.
"The views of locals remain important to us, and that's why we would urge as many as possible to come along to the exhibition.
"Key issues, including the manner in which future development is designed and landscaped are elements that locals should feel free to voice their opinions on," he added.
The public exhibitions take place between 2pm and 8pm tomorrow, and between 9am and 1pm on Wednesday.
Copies of the draft development brief for the area can be viewed at the Ronkswood Community Centre, Canterbury Road and the Ronkswood Neighbourhood Office, Wells Road, or via the council's website www.cityofworcester.gov.uk
