Badsey Ladies 1, Harborne III 1

BADSEY'S overall play has improved with every game and Saturday's match was no exception.

The home side had to absorb a lot of pressure in the first 15 minutes as Harborne sought to make the early breakthrough but a well-marshalled defence stood firm with goalkeeper Nicki Wright making some athletic saves.

Gradually the match settled down and Badsey began got their game together and Claire Jones, Karen Robinson, Zoe Hodgkins and Sharon Fish combined well to cause the visitors some anxious moments but found the final killer ball elusive.

It was end-to-end play until Harborne took the lead just before half-time with a well-taken goal. Badsey took more and more control after the break when Harborne were still dangerous from short corners and two goalline clearances from player of the match Emily Andrews were needed to keep Badsey in the game.

Jones left the field injured after a bad tackle but the resulting short corner saw the ball passed around the D until it reached Lisa Gavin whose shot crept in at the far post.

The goal inspired Badsey and they laid siege to the Harborne goal for the final ten minutes but were unable to come up with a winner.

Badsey take on Evesham at the High School on Saturday, pushback at 3pm.
