A 12-year-old girl was indecently assaulted as she walked to school at about 8.20am last Monday.
The girl was walking along Ibstock Close in Winyates when she noticed a man walking behind her.
She did not see where the man went, but as she walked down a path between Mainstone Close and Winyates Centre, she noticed the man behind her again.
He then leaned towards her and grabbed her.
As the girl ran off she noticed two girls in Arrow Vale High School uniforms.
Investigating officer Pc Kate Lane said: "We'd like to hear from the two girls from Arrow Vale High School as they will have seen this offender and may be able to help with our investigation."
The man is white with dark hair, in his late teens. He was wearing a black hooded top and black or blue tracksuit bottoms with a white stripe down the side.
"The young girl and her mother were quite distressed about this incident and we would like to know who the offender is," added Pc Lane.
Anyone with information can call Pc Lane on 08457 444 888.
