A NEW children's outpatient clinic will be officially opened at the Alexandra Hospital tomorrow offering a "child friendly" service run by specialist paediatric nurses.
The first-floor clinic is part of a new development within the NHS National Service Framework for Children.
The clinic has been designed to provide a waiting area just for children, separate from adult services and is equipped with a play area to suit all ages with a TV/video for adolescents. There is also a baby- changing area.
Paediatric lead nurse Mary Passant said: "Our aim is to provide, for the first time, a central point for outpatient care for children at the Alexandra Hospital.
"The nurses will ensure any tests are explained in simple terms and any tests or treatment are arranged with the child's best interest at heart.
"It also means parents can ring the receptionists with inquiries regarding their child.
"This is a unique opportunity to further improve the service provided for children in North Worcestershire."
A Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust spokesman thanked Heart FM and the hospital's League of Friends for their donations towards the creation of the clinic.
Two Heart FM presenters will officially open the clinic tomorrow.
