TORY parliamentary spokesperson Karen Lumley has slammed the Labour government for a "huge increase" in violent crime and insufficient police resources in a recent speech.
Mrs Lumley, who addressed the annual Conservative Party conference in Bournemouth earlier this month, highlighted a 315 per cent increase in violent crime in Redditch.
She told delegates: "A police station just yards from the centre of town has been closed at 10pm for the last year."
Mrs Lumley claimed Tories had been working hard to re-open the police station and as a result of "continuous campaigning" had managed to open its doors around the clock.
"We are now pushing for the police station to be manned for 24 hours a day," she said.
