Old Silhillians U15s 15
Bromsgrove U15s 7
Bromsgrove suffered their first defeat of the season in their most important fixture, losing narrowly to a side they had already scalped on the opening day.
Old Sils made six changes to that side by adding more pace and power to their three-quarters and within the first five minutes they ran in a try from just inside their own half.
Playing against the elements in the first half Bromsgrove were always struggling and took wrong options and this was evident when the Old Sils winger was missed by at least three defenders and crashed over in the corner to give them a 10-0 half-time lead.
After a roasting from their coaches at the break, and with the elements at their backs, Grove started to show some self-belief.
Playing to their strengths, they began driving the ball upfield with the forwards or when that failed Talbot kicked them into good field position.
But against the run of play the home side added a third try when the Old Sils winger again outstripped the defence to score in the corner with just 15 minutes left.
But with time now running out Grove's fitness started to tell and after an initial break by Thomas, the forwards carried on the drive and Michael crossed the line. Talbot's conversion closed the margin to eight points with five minutes to go.
Scrum half Whittam and skipper Michaels started cutting holes in the Old Sils defence but all too often the support was not on hand to profit.
Time and time again Grove's previous indiscipline cost them dear as every time they got within touching distance the referee found a reason to penalise them.
With only seconds Grove squandered an excellent chance thanks to taking another wrong option.
Bromsgrove will now go into the Plate competition and, with more discipline, should have a good chance of winning.

Luctonians U9s 15
Bromsgrove Boars U9s 15

The Boars had rather more luck against a different Luctonians side. Ian Haley scored along with second tries by Ed Beech and Charlie Weston.
Droitwich U9s 25
Kidderminster U9s 5
Both teams started the match in fine spirit and were evenly matched for the first quarter.
The deadlock was broken when Scott Howell made a 20-yard break and then delivered a well timed pass to Jon Nottingham who powered over. Joel Power added two more tries before half-time.
In the second half, Droitwich showed more determination to contest for the ball at the breakdown which provided the opportunity to run in two more tries.
Kidderminster were restricted to one try due to good defensive tackling, particularly by Sam Philips and Harry Rees.
