THE former lead singer of Redditch 60s band The Rockin' Berries is to play in the town for the first time in a decade on Friday.
The Berries were the resident Palace Theatre band in the early 60s before they hit the big time with a string of chart records and radio and TV appearances.
Lead singer Jefferson, who sang on tunes such as He's in Town and Poor Man's Son, will be taking a trip down memory lane at a 50s and 60s nostalgia night at the Valley Stadium in Bromsgrove Road later this week.
In their heyday, the Berries appeared on shows like Thank Your Lucky Stars, Top of the Pops, Saturday Club and Sunday Night at the Palladium - even performing for the Queen in 1965.
Supporting Jefferson on Friday will be The Razzle Dazzle Rock 'n' Roll Record Show, playing other 50s and 60s hits.
Doors open at 7.30pm and admission on the night is priced at £3.
