MISSED chances cost Fairfield Villa in a 3-1 home defeat to Heather Athletic.
The Recreation Ground side hit the crossbar and wasted several first half opportunities in last Saturday's Midland Combination Division One clash.
Villa did the early attacking, with Paul Matthews shooting past the post with only goalkeeper Adam Bayliss to beat early on.
Heather led on 24 minutes after goalkeeper John Slade parried a free-kick into the path of Gareth Favero and he smashed the ball home.
The lead lasted just five minutes as Olly Jones broke free down the right and cut inside to beat the goalkeeper.
Neil Gallagher's side dominated the rest of the half but could not add to their tally despite Phil Upton hitting the bar, while several other chances went begging.
Heather edged ahead midway through the second half through a Leon Maddocks header and Gary Satariano got a third two minutes later.
Villa tried to get back into the game but failed to create any clear cut chances.
Manager Gallagher was disappointed with the result and overall performance of his side.
