Evesham 24pts, Kidderminster 21

EVESHAM travelled north in buoyant mood having had a successful start to the season with six wins out of seven matches.

Straight from the opening kick of Saturday's friendly, the Avon Street pack were in a tenacious mood and caused Kiddy to turn over possession on a number of occasions.

It took Evesham just five minutes to take the lead when, after good harassment from Lloyd Giles and Dave Scott, they capitalised on the loose ball. Fly-half Chris Evis fed his waiting backs and centre Jamie Cam-eron raced in at the corner.

Rick Taylor converted from wide out and the pressure continued with Chris Evis putting the hosts on the back foot with good long kicks, while the forwards were winning the initial exchanges that led to a second score.

A great passage of play from the pack was finished off from the rampaging Lloyd Giles to score under the posts. Taylor again added the extra points.

Evesham then took their foot off the pedal and allowed their opponents back into the game but Evis, Luke Matthews and Mike Figgit were having massive games in defence.

Kiddy could only muster two penalties and went into the break trailing 14-6.

Evesham came out in the second half all guns blazing and scored early on following another superb Evis touch kick.

The visitors won good line-out possession and drove a much larger opposition pack over the line where Simon Thwaites came up with the ball.

Kidderminster then scored two excellent tries of their own through their pacy backs but Evesham rallied and scrum-half Adriaan Swars out muscled three players to bulldoze over in the corner.

The hosts finished the game strongly and got another dese-rved try but couldn't prevent the winners posting another excellent result.

They will be hoping to maintain their winning sequence when they return to league action at Southam on Saturday.
