A CAR sales business in Alcester could be forced out of town because of repeated attacks by arsonists and thieves.

Arrow Car Sales, on Arden Road, is targeted on almost a weekly basis, according to managing director Ben Sandall, who says he is losing thousands of pounds every year.

The latest attacks were in the early hours of last Saturday morning when three vehicles in the unfenced compound were broken into and a Land Rover Defender was set alight.

During the same period, a car was stolen from the nearby Springfield Nursery.

It was driven to Bidford where it was set alight in the Waterloo Road area of the village and discovered by police officers responding to another call.

The owner, 82-year-old Jim Adams, said the experience was "very distressing and upsetting" and caused "a lot of trouble to sort things out".

He has had to borrow his son's car to get around until he can arrange to buy a new one.

The car, a white Ford Fiesta, had belonged to his late sister and had sentimental value.

"It was old, but it was a good little car and would probably have lasted me out," he said.

Mr Adams' wife Sue had her car stolen a year ago and the couple have been regular targets from vehicle vandals.

It is believed more cars were attacked in Bidford and one car which was stolen was later found abandoned in Alvechurch.

Mr Sandall said the Alcester culprits had been caught on CCTV and although he said he did not recognise them, believes they are local.

He said: "I'm going to have to fence everything in and operate like that until they beat us into packing it up and leaving."

Police are appealing for witnesses to any of the incidents.
