A BEAUTIFUL orange glow will light the way for visitors to Burcot on Halloween night after 60 villagers took part in a pumpkin-carving workshop.

Children as young as five and adults as old as 80 enjoyed the pumpkin carving workshop, on Saturday, which taught them how to carve inspiring designs in pumpkins, preservation methods and lighting effects.

Pumpkin snacks, such as pie and toasted seeds, were on offer to provide nourishment to encourage the eager students. The village will be lit up along the Alcester Road on Halloween (Sunday, October 31) with as many as 200 pumpkins, according to organiser Tim Ratcliffe.

He is hoping the village will become known for the pumpkin display in the same way Belbroughton is known for its scarecrows.

Tim said: "We had a really good response from people and we really want to turn it into an annual event.

"Hopefully we will attract a lot of visitors to the village on the night."
