I ENJOYED a theatre experience with a difference when I attended Mouthpiece Productions' latest show.
The action takes place in an upstairs room in a friendly pub - the only one in Worcestershire with a theatre licence. Capable of seating 50, the intimate surroundings give a sense of participation and involvement which larger venues are unable to give.
On the face of it the play, cleverly written by Karoline Leach, is a straightforward tale of George Love, conman and serial womaniser and Adelaide, his next conquest/victim set in Edwardian England.
However, beneath the surface there is a lot going on and feelings run high. The acting by the two stars, Marcus Fernando and Denise Knight, is absolutely superb and the surroundings were such that every nuance of emotion shown on their faces was on show throughout - and I found this a wonderful, moving experience.
Mouthpiece aims to bring theatre of a high standard to small, local venues throughout Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Herefordshire. They choose their productions with care and use minimal props.
The Mysterious Mr Love can be seen locally at Wythall Library on Monday at 7.30pm. There are a few tickets left, so I would advise snapping them up quickly (01564 822980).
Those who have already booked are in for a real treat.
