FIRE which broke out on an unattended lorry in the garden at 42, Crumpfields Lane, Webheath, last Wednesday, is believed to have been caused when a tarpaulin, which covered the bonnet, came in contact with the hot exhaust pipe.
Most of the exterior of the vehicle was scorched.
The fire was noticed by a boy who was in the vicinity at the time.
Both the boy and a neighbour, whom he called, tackled the fire and pulled away the burning tarpaulin and then summoned Redditch Fire Brigade, who were quickly on the scene.
The brigade was under the charge of sub-officer R Nicholls.
