NAUNTON trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies continued his recent fine form with a double at Stratford last Saturday.
Twiston-Davies was helped by Carl Llewellyn who steered Baron Windrush to victory in the opener and then was on board 5/1 chance Barneys Lyric in the totepool Handicap Hurdle.
Odds-on shot VaVavoom, the Cotswolds handler's solitary runner at Market Rasen the next afternoon failed to live up to its billing but there was local joy for both trainers and jockeys at the same venue and also at Hereford.
Moreton-in-Marsh rider led Ascari to victory at Market Rasen, while Robin Dickin's Bobosh was steered across the line by Dave Dennis to win the opener at Hereford after being sent off at 7/1.
The third race of the afternoon saw odds-on Swansea Bay stunned by 25/1 chance Magical Liaison who romped to a 14-length victory under the guidance of Warren Marston from Bourton-on-the-Water.
The next meeting at Luddington Road is the last of the year and takes place next Thursday, October 28 when the first of six races gets under way at 2.30pm.
Punters will then have to wait more than four months for their next taste of National Hunt action with the first meeting of 2005 not scheduled until Sunday, April 17.
The course stages just three Saturday afternoon meetings next year on September 3 and October 15 with an evening meeting part of the two-day spectacular on Friday and Saturday, May 20 and 21.
