A MUM who struggled to lift her handicapped son up the stairs of her Kidderminster home has been thrown a lifeline by kind-hearted fund-raisers.

A company raised £1,350 to install a stairlift at the home of 10-year-old Oliver de Morney, who has Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome and is unable to walk. His mother, Cal, said the efforts of Dazzling Dreams had made life easier in an instant.

The Cowper Walk resident said: "Oliver was getting too heavy to carry upstairs as he grew older, which was putting a great strain on my back. The stairlift is a godsend and has made a huge difference."

Company director, David Tetsill, said he hoped the fund-raising efforts would help put Dazzling Dreams on the way to charity status, enabling it to help other youngsters in need.

He added: "One of our volunteers managed to raise the money in two months by collecting in Kidderminster, Bromsgrove and Stourbridge. The public were very generous and we would like to thank everybody who gave money."

The company is based in Ladywood, Birmingham, and was set up this year, Mr Tetsill said.
