KIDDERMINSTER'S karting sensation Nathan Freke saw his troublesome Superkart season end in style when he powered to the biggest win of his career.

Freke put his problems behind him to outshine more established stars at the CIK European Superkart championship round at Donington.

After breezing through qualifying, Freke had a stroke of luck early in Sunday's racing when he suffered a broken exhaust only for the race to be declared null and void after a red flag.

In the second race, he surged from a starting position of 16th to storm into the lead, despatching the current Division One and Division Two British Champion into second.

Showing his full mastery of the wet conditions he drove consistently to secure a 24-second gap over the nearest Division Two kart, and first in front of the Division One twins who sport 30 per cent more power.

The result gave him the overall win for the meeting, his first success at this level, and makes him the only British driver to win a European Championship meeting of any kind this year. It also gives him third place in the European Division Two Superkart Championships.

His father Clive said: "This is the biggest win of his career to date. He will be seeded third for the 2005 European championships, should funding be available.

"The win in the 250cc kart also establishes Nathan as the only driver in the UK to obtain a seeded ranking in every class of karting he has competed in."
