AN inquest into the sudden death of an Evesham man found collapsed in a bathroom has been opened and adjourned.

The body of Robert Edward Bowden, aged 26, of Fountain Gardens, was found at an address in Mill Street at around 4.45am last Friday. The supermarket worker, who had a history of drug misuse, had arrived at the house the previous evening.

Two men were arrested at the same address on suspicion of supplying illegal drugs, shortly after police were called. The pair have been bailed without charge to return to Worcester police station while enquiries continue.

Coroner Victor Round said at the opening of the inquest on Tuesday in Stourport that Mr Bowden had been discovered by his friend, Shey Yarnold. He added: "He (Mr Bowden) arrived at a friend's house apparently the worse for something, it was thought to be alcohol, then they all went to sleep. During the early hours one of the occupants went to use the bathroom and found him (Mr Bowden) collapsed on the floor of the bathroom." Mr Round said the cause of death was yet to be established but blood samples have been sent for tests.
