JAN Molby will instruct Kidderminster Harriers to become a "4-4-2 team" as he strives to bring some much-needed stability to his injury-hit squad.

The Aggborough boss has experimented with several formations at home and away this season, but has now decided to stick with the orthodox line-up.

Molby hopes employing similar tactics at Aggborough and on the road will help settle a squad who are constantly being disrupted by changes of personnel.

Simon Brown became the latest casualty at Kidderminster when a scan revealed he has cracked his tibia and could be out for up to six weeks.

And Harriers have been down to just 12 fit players for training this week with more than half a dozen of the squad sidelined with various complaints.

"We started off playing 4-3-3 away from home and were leaving ourselves too open," said Molby.

"Then we've switched to 4-42 and then 4-5-1 and I wouldn't say any system has worked better or worse than any other.

"I don't think it has helped the players, keep changing systems especially when we've been losing players with injuries.

"I think it's important that the players know what they are doing week in week so we are going to be a 4-4-2 team at home and away from now on," added Molby, who employed that formation to good effect in last Saturday's win against Scun-thorpe last weekend.

Brown's injury is a massive blow for Harriers, especially with the 21-year-old West Bromwich Albion striker hinting at rediscovering his best form in recent weeks.

"At the worst he could be out for six weeks and at the best it's three weeks so that takes him to the end of his third month on loan," said Molby.

"We have had good vibes from West Brom that we can keep him until the end of the season because they want him playing regular football and he enjoys it."

Molby expects to finally welcome back Iyseden Christie to the bench at Bristol Rovers on Saturday after the striker's positive report on his foot problem and Micky Mellon could also be among the substitutes after an improvement to his achilles.

Ian Foster has missed training all week to rest his knee and is rated at 50/50, while Youssou Diop will be given longer to recover from his knee problem.

Steve Burton (hamstring) is virtually certain to sit out Saturday's game with fellow full back Reuben Hazell under-going knee surgery yesterday.

Meanwhile, Molby and assistant Gary Barnett have been busy trying to recruit reinforcements.

They have pursued controversial striker Julian Alsop, who was sacked by Oxford United this week, but he is currently training with Northampton.

Another target Bournemouth's Derek Holmes is unavailable because of the Cherries' own injury problems, while a loan move for Reading's Martin Butler has also failed.

Aggborough will host West Bromwich Albion's reserves against Manchester United on Monday November 1, kick off 7pm. Admission is pay on the door, £5 adults and £3 concessions.

It will also stage the matches between WBA reserves and Villa (November 15), Everton (Novemeber 29) and Leeds (December 13).
