"Chiefly Ourselves" at the October meeting, featured cooking and flower arranging by committee members.
Sue Stone demonstrated how to make shortbread and preserve fruit, while Chris Haynes filled a basket with natural foliage and a crimson Christmas tree, and Delia Loney made an Ecclefecan tart. Sheila Grant produced an autumn arrangement, using dried garden material and Christmas baubles.
Recipes were available for all the dishes prepared, including a wine cake which Greta Mitchell entered in the May rally. A trip to Arley Arboretum will be arranged. Competitions were won by Edith Sheldon and Dot Pickering.
The Leys carol concert will be at Habberley RC Church on December 14.
The next meeting is on November 4, at Habberley church hall, 7.30pm, when Judy Berrow will be talking gardening with "Starting from Scratch".
