BRITISH pianist Robert Markham will be giving a recital at Evesham Arts Centre on Tuesday, November 9, as part of the new season of concerts provided by the Evesham and District Music Club.

Robert studied at Chetham School of Music in Manchester with Heather Slade-Lipkin and with Oxana Yablonskaya at the Julliard School in New York. He earned international recognition as a finalist in the 1994 Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow and received the Piano Prize of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition.

Since then he has performed with prestigious orchestras including the LSO, the BBC Philharmonic and the London Mozart Players and as a recitalist giving a highly-acclaimed debut recital at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York. He is currently teaching at the Birmingham Conservatoire.

For his recital at Evesham, Robert has chosen a programme of Schubert's Sonata in E flat, D 568; a couple of Dvorak's Czech folk dances for solo piano Dumka and Furiant op.2; Poulenc's Nocturnes and Apre ine Lecture du Dante, the highlight from Liszt's second year of Annees de Pelerinage.
