A PEDESTRIAN who was knocked over and killed by a lorry in Kidderminster was standing in the driver's blind spot, an inquest has heard.
County coroner, Victor Round, said the lorry driver had no idea Patricia White, aged 65, of Clifton Road, Kidderminster, had stepped out in front of his blue Scania lorry.
The vehicle was waiting in stop-start traffic on the A456 Bewdley Road, near the Proud Cross Ringway roundabout, on Thursday, June 24.
Mr Round said Mrs White stepped out in front of the stationary lorry to cross the road.
He said because of the design of the vehicle, the driver would not have been able to see anyone standing within 0.65 metres of the front of the lorry.
"The poor driver had no idea what was going on," said Mr Round, at Tuesday's inquest.
"Several independent witnesses agree that she was very close to the front of the vehicle and would have been in the driver's blind spot."
Mr Round said the cause of death was multiple injuries. A verdict of accidental death was recorded.
