YOUNG people aged between 12 and 16 who worked on projects to benefit their communities during the summer are to have their efforts recognised in an awards event.

Kidderminster police, who ran the Lifestyle 2004 scheme, have arranged the awards night, to take place at Kidderminster Town Hall, on Wednesday, November 3.

Youngsters participating in Lifestyle teams kept records of their activities, for judging at the end of the school summer holidays.

The top team will win an activity holiday in France, while other prizes include a similar type of holiday in the UK.

Among people benefiting from the types of projects worked on by young people during the nine years in which Lifestyle has been run are vulnerable members of the community and young children.

Improvements to the local environment have also been carried out and money has been raised for worthwhile causes.

Organiser, PC Andy Hill, said: "This year, as always, all of the young people worked very hard and well and truly proved how much they care about their local communities.

"The prize-giving evening at Kidderminster Town Hall is our way of recognising their efforts.

"Lifestyle has proved very popular over the years and will return in 2005."

Heart fm's breakfast show presenters, Ed James and Hellon Wheels, will attend the prize-giving night, which begins at 7pm.
