TWO of the country's finest musicians, acclaimed soloists and chamber musicians renowned for their virtuosity, integrity and temperament, the celebrated Baillie/Lisney Duo, open the new season of concerts at Charlton Church on Saturday at 7.30pm.
St John's Church, Charlton, is the intimate chamber venue where renowned musicians like to perform new programmes in a virtually domestic setting. Seating just 100, everyone in the audience is enveloped in the music-making and has a chance to meet the musicians.
Alexander Baillie is internationally recognised as one of the finest cellists of his generation. He studied at London's Royal College of Music with Joan Dickson and Anna Shuttleworth and with Andre Navarra in Vienna. He has appeared with many of the major British conductors, has directed and performed concerts with the English Chamber Orchestra and is a regular soloist internationally.
John Lisney enjoys an exciting and varied international career, achieving distinction both for his work as a soloist and for his collaborative work with many major artists. He graduated from the Royal College of Music and made his Wigmore Hall debut in 1986.
"The Baillie/Lisney Duo is celebrated for its dazzling expertise and charismatic rapport.
"Baillie and Lisney have established a thriving international career together, performing a wide range of music and receiving accolades for their recent Beethoven project, for which they performed and recorded all five of Beethoven's Sonatas for Piano and Violoncello," said organiser Charlotte Ooi.
Tickets cost £10 from Hampton Farm Shop, Pershore Road, Evesham, Blue, Broad Street, Pershore, or on 01386 861139.
