THE fund-raising efforts by customers and staff at a Worcester pub has resulted in a £2,800 donation to charity MIND.

Worcester women Jacqueline Jeynes and Margaret Kennedy presented the cheque following a barbeque and charity night at the Charlstons in New Street, city centre.

The "dynamic duo" is organising a range of fund-raising activities so that they can go off trekking in Cuba in aid of MIND.

Mrs Jeynes said: "We are absolutely delighted to receive this incredible donation. It means we are well on the way to achieving our £5,000 target needed before we can join the trek.

"We cannot thank everyone enough, particularly Julie and Steve, their staff and all the regular customers at Charlstons who put so much time and effort into the celebrations.

"Special thanks must also go to the magnificent Scarlet who acted as MC, Mark who endured his chest being waxed and of course, everyone who donated so generously during the auction," Mrs Jeynes added.

Other fund-raising events planned include a pub crawl from Charlstons on Sunday, October 24, and a Christmas Ball at the Fownes Hotel on Friday, November 26.
