THE Autumn in Malvern Festival continues tomorrow (Saturday) with the Aldwyn Voices in concert at Malvern Priory.
The concert, at 3pm, features music from Thomas Tomkins, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Elgar, among others, and readings from the works of Vernon Watkins, Dylan Thomas, R S Thomas and C Day Lewis.
The conductor is James Vivian, musical director of Aldwyn Voices since 2000 and organist of the Temple Church, London.
He was the acting-assistant organist of Lincoln Cathedral before he took up the organ scholarship at King's College, Cambridge. During this time, he studied with Stephen Cleobury, Colin Walsh, Dr Philip Marshall and David Sanger.
Organist for the concert is Carlton Etherington, organist and master of choristers at Tewkesbury Abbey.
Joining the choir is baritone Andrew Rupp, who recently appeared in the premiere of John Tavener's Veil of the Temple for the BBC Proms.
The reader is Paul Jenkins, who grew up in Malvern before training as an actor.
Malvern Priory is also the venue next Saturday, October 30, for a lecture about its medieval stained glass at 3pm.
Historian Heather Gilder-dale is an expert in medieval stained glass and is currently doing a doctorate at the Courtauld Institute, focusing on the Priory's windows.
The same day, at 7.30pm at the Elgar Birthplace Museum, author Kevin Allen will talk about Elgar's Inspired Golf.
