PUBLIC toilets on the waterfront in Upton must not be closed down.
This was the message at a meeting of the town council on Tuesday.
As reported in the Malvern Gazette last week, Malvern Hills District Council has said it may close the toilets if it decides it cannot afford to run them anymore.
Coun Eric White said: "It seems such a small part of MHDC's budget. But if we take on the cleaning, we would probably be getting on for five or ten per cent of our precept just to keep them clean.
"It's a very useful facility and I would hate to lose it."
The refurbishment of the Hanley Road toilets, closed for several weeks during the summer, will begin next week.
Work is expected to be finished by Christmas.
