THERE was a time when the older generation, newly retired, would volunteer for the many jobs available; generously offering their services for an hour or two a week, happy in the knowledge that they were helping others in need.
Doing something useful always improves one's feeling of well being! But apparently not any more.
Volunteering might impinge on the newly found freedom of retirement - the long weekends, golf, bridge, further education, keep fit, numerous hobbies and the social life - but surely among all this activity there must be a couple of hours to spare for something else?
If there is, I shall be eternally grateful for those two hours on a Monday morning to do a driving job for the WRVS Laundry Service. Please contact me on (01684) 572421.
