AS a resident of Newtown Road, I am most concerned at the potential effect on residents' quality of life if the proposed development of North Site went ahead without greater consideration of the effect of additional traffic on what is already a busy road.
I understand that 390 units are to be built together with a school and shops to service the proposed estate. I am told that up to 500 additional vehicles will pass my door each day.
An inspection of the road on the hill south of St Joseph's school, where vehicles brake before negotiating the bend opposite the Prince of Wales, will confirm both current wear and tear and that traffic already approaches the school at speeds which are often unacceptable.
I urge that the council adopts the proposal made by Coun Roger Hall-Jones for a new road linking the Townsend Way roundabout to Leigh Sinton Road.
