CONCERN about road safety and the size of the houses led to a plan for 14 properties in Court Road, Malvern, being refused.
At a meeting on Wednesday, Malvern Hills district councillors supported the principle of housing on the Three Counties Garage site but felt the plan before them was too much.
Robert Series, who lives opposite the site, spoke against the plan by developer Miton. He said that although the proposed buildings were staggered to fit the street scene, they were too high.
Mr Series they should have a communal driveway instead of individual drives, so vehicles would not have to reverse into Court Road.
Coun Jon Rayner agreed. He said:"I've walked up and down Court Road for years and three-storey houses on that site are just not on."
Coun Rayner said there would be enough space for a respectable turning space in front of the houses if a pair of properties were removed.
