A Malvern Link housing estate will be closed to traffic while the final stage of a traffic-calming scheme is completed.
Contractors have been working since July to convert the Duke of Edinburgh estate into a Home Zone - a residential area where traffic is slowed to make life better for pedestrians.
Work is on schedule with the installation of bollards, landscaping and other street furniture.
On Wednesday, about 20 residents attended a meeting of the steering group overseeing the project.
Rachel Hammond, of contractor Halcrow, told the meeting that the estate roads would have to be shut for a day towards the end of the November. This will allow the installation of speed humps, made from a special material that takes several hours to set. It is expected that the roads will be closed from about 10am to 5pm.
The end of the work could be marked by an official opening ceremony and some sort of street party. Residents suggested the ceremony could be performed by a local celebrity or the youngest, oldest or longest-standing estate residents.
Other proposals were that local taxi drivers should be briefed about the Home Zone, so they would know how to drive within it.
Steve Morgan, also of Halcrow, said: "The thing we're doing here is new and different - it relies on local people taking a lead in making sure it will work."
