WORCESTERSHIRE'S Leslie Law is part of the British contingent heading to France this weekend, to contest the World Cup CIC*** final at Pau from today until Sunday.
The event is the culmination of international one-day events (CIC) that have been staged across Europe, including British dates such as Lulworth Castle and Chatsworth, and many of the world finest riders will be taking part.
Upton-on-Severn based Law, who has just received the Olympic individual gold medal he was eventually awarded at Athens, leads the British squad. The 39-year-old will partner a new ride, the ten-year-old British bred Coup de Coeur, who is owned by Keith Scott.
The horse was previously ridden by Surrey-based Rebecca Gibbs, who finished ninth at the Lulworth CIC in Dorset with him this summer.
Pau will mark Law's competitive debut with Coup de Coeur, a brown gelding.
Leslie, who was third at the Lulworth CIC himself on his Sydney team silver medallist Shear H20, is no stranger to Pau, having finished third there in 2000 on his Athens ride Shear L'Eau.
British riders joining Leslie at Pau are fellow Athens team silver medallist Pippa Funnell, Cheshire-based Polly Stockton and Zara Phillips, daughter of HRH The Princess Royal.
