ROOKIE goalkeeper Ben Scott is to be thrown into the lion's den tomorrow as he makes his Nationwide Conference debut at Carlisle United.
The 20-year-old has been handed the tough task of keeping the Cumbrians at bay following the move by Preston North End manager Billy Davies to recall on-loan stopper Jonathan Gould.
Scott signed for the Bulls at the start of the 2003/04 campaign as understudy to Matt Baker and has made just one competitive appearance in United's 3-1 Herefordshire Senior Cup Final victory over Forest Green Rovers last season.
He performed stoutly in Hereford's pre-season friendlies and an assured display at Brunton Park could force manager Graham Turner into naming Scott as his new number one.
Gould's return to Deepdale yesterday brought to an end a successful loan stint and Turner will have to look elsewhere if he wants an experienced goalkeeper for the remainder of the campaign.
