MALVERN Town entertain Staveley Miners Welfare in the First Round Proper of the FA Vase tomorrow (Saturday), hoping to progress further than in the 99/2000 campaign when they went out at this stage to Norton United 2-0.
Staveley MW are currently midway in the North Counties East Division One League and have former England star Chris Waddle and former Newcastle star John Beresford on their books. Waddle came on as substitute in their 1-1 draw at Retford last weekend but his appearance at Langland Stadium will depend on whether his services are required on the radio.
Malvern still have many players injured and Dean Roberts and Des Cox are definitely out whilst Nathan Jukes, Phil and Duncan Preedy will all require fitness tests before the game and Craig Williams is suspended for two weeks.
However, Marc Burrow has agreed to join the club and it is hoped that his transfer from Alvechurch can be completed in time for the Vase game.
Likely squad: Wyatt, Moss, Chalmers, Clayton, Jones, Heaney, Bullock, Halion, Jukes, Preedy (D), Preedy (P), Morris, Tomkins (L), Tomkins (R), Smith, Cannon and Endacott.
