MONTY Python actor and renowned traveller, Michael Palin, will be in Worcester tomorrow to sign copies of his new book Himalaya.
Compiled from his diaries, the book records the pleasure and pain faced by Mr Palin (pictured) when he tackled the Himalayas, a virtually unbroken wall of rock that stretches 1,800 miles from the borders of Afghanistan to South West China.
His travel through the mountain range is currently being shown on television on Sunday nights, his sixth televised international journey.
In his latest adventure, Mr Palin visited the Khyber Pass, the hidden valleys of the Hindu Kush, ancient cities like Peshawar and Lahore, the peaks of K2, Everest, met the Dalai Lama and passed through dangerous areas like Pakistan's remote north-west frontier, and terrorist-torn Kashmir.
Maoists
He even had a brush with Maoists fighters while filming in Nepal.
Other journeys have seen Mr Palin follow the Phileas Fogg's trek by circumnavigating the globe within 80 days, travelling from the North Pole to the South by the most direct route over the most land and journeying 15,000 miles through 18 countries around the Pacific rim.
Mr Palin will be at Ottakar's book store, City Arcade, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
