TABLE- topping Anchor Falcons continued their fine start to the season with a fifth straight Worcester Sunday Division Three win at Northwick Lodge on Sunday and they increased their goal tally to 28 in the process.
DEERS LEAP ATHLETIC 2, ANCHOR FALCONS 5
In what has been a record start for the club, the Falcons have put in some impressive performances and on Sunday had to dig deep against a side who, despite having lost all their games to date, were in the mood to disrupt the Falcons' form.
Indeed the home side took the lead in the 9th minute following a very slow start by Anchor, when a corner was only partially cleared and the rebound was driven home from seven yards out.
Back came the Falcons and by half time they were leading. Firstly Paul Park's neat finish from a five-man move and then Rich Bryan's trademark shot from the right hand edge of the box giving the visitors the edge.
After the break Athletic deservedly equalised when they converted a penalty, but any aspirations they had of forging ahead where quickly dispelled. Within two minutes the visitors had scored twice. Firstly through Rich Bryan with another crisp finish, then Dave Jenkinson's low free kick into the area eluded everyone and curled its way inside the far post.
This proved a killer blow for Athletic and they never really came close to threatening the Falcons as Anchor's midfield of man-of-the-match Will Hale and Mark Berry dominated. There was still time for the goal of the game when, following a corner, full back Chris Williams drilled a fierce shot into the roof of the net, a goal which was met with relieved celebration by the visitors.
Another excellent victory by the Falcons as they continue to lead the way. This Sunday sees the game of the season when free-scoring Prinner Sports visit Dysons for a league match. Anchor players to meet 9.45am prompt.
