RANGERS entertained Sporting Khalsa on Saturday and after a topsy-turvy game managed to grab victory to go top of the table, as the previous leaders Parkfield Leisure were involved in a cup fixture.

Rangers took the lead after six minutes when Danny White crossed a good ball in and Mark Taylor hit a great shot from the edge of the box into the corner, which bounced just in front of keeper Gurinder Deo.

On 16 minutes Mark Tipton headed marginally wide of the post following a right-sided corner by Martin Philpotts.

After 28 minutes Sporting Khalsa were awarded a penalty for apparent pushing in the box. Ross Sanders made an excellent save from Harpal Sidhu and from the rebound, with the goal gaping, the same player stuck the post.

Two minutes later the visitors drew level from a free kick on the edge of the box from which Leon Brown eventually scored.

Just one minute later Rangers regained the lead when Rob Cullen took a throw on the right, Danny White headed on and Mark Taylor headed home.

On 34 minutes an excellent right-sided cross by Paul Edwards was headed wide at the far post by a stretching Simon Rea.

Three minutes into the second half a free kick just outside the box saw Mark Tipton's strike beat the keeper but a Rangers player was flagged offside.

After 15 minutes substitute Pardeep Singh got behind Steve Walker and coolly lobbed Ross Sanders for the equaliser. On 18 minutes a great cross by Martin Philpotts saw Rob Cullen head wide.

Amazingly after all the chances Rangers had created and missed Sporting Khalsa took the lead after 29 minutes with a good strike from Mike Dplomedo from the edge of the box.

On 38 minutes Paul Edwards shot towards goal, Mark Taylor got the final touch over the line but again he was given offside.

However, after 42 minutes Rangers did manage to score the equaliser. A throw in on the left found Mark Tipton and he hit an excellent shot into the top corner from outside the box.

Two minutes into time added on and Rangers scored the winning goal. Awarded a free kick on the left, Steve Walker floated a ball to the far post, Mark Tipton headed across the face of goal and Mark Taylor got the decisive touch over the line.

Man of the match was Mark Taylor.
