IT was Clements Cup week in the Bromsgrove and Redditch League - the competition where the first and second division teams go in the hat together.
Lickey Rocs, without their number one Brian Belcher, put up a good fight at West Midlands Phones C but went down 5-4. Alan Hyatt won his three for the Phones with Ian Maybury getting the other two. Bob Barlow did best for the Rocs, winning two.
SPSP went down 6-3 at West Midlands Phones A with Roger Ellerington and Don Shillingford both winning three for the Phones.
Studley Road Terriers lost 6-3 at home to West Midlands Phones B. Dave Lyne was man of the match, winning his three games for the Phones, with Ian Cooper winning two and Jeff Cook one. For the Terriers, Mike Kirwan won two with Peter Hartles getting the other.
Hillcrest lost 5-4 at home to Coughton. Mark Bennett had a great night for Hillcrest, winning his three games, but they only got one more through Alan McLoughlin. Mike Kendall and veteran Ron Butterton both won two for Coughton with Bob Watts getting the other.
In the five remaining games there were 9-0 wins for Astwood Bank over Droitwich C, Cofton Hackett over Droitwich A, Droitwich B over Droitwich E and Cofton Hackett over Studley Road Nomads, while Carter Retail beat Barnt Green Hornets 8-1.
