REDDITCH United look set to be deducted points coupled with a fine by the Nationwide Conference for fielding an ineligible player against Hinckley United on September 18.
The man in question - Scott Voice - was in the last week of a month's loan at Solihull Borough when he was recalled to join the Reds as Solihull were without a fixture.
But Conference rules state that a loan player must complete the minimum 28-day loan before returning.
Voice came on for Norman Sylla in the last 15 minutes as the Reds battered Hinckley 3-0 at the Valley Stadium, but he also played a part in Redditch's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Hucknall Town three day's later.
Redditch United boss Rod Brown said the club won't be appealing against any decision made by the league.
He added: "It's not been made official by the league yet. But it's a shame.
"It was an administrative error and the error was ours.
"We've worked really hard this season and that's shown in our position in the league but there's nothing you can do it really is out of our hands now and we'll move on - there's no use complaining about it now."
Reds chairman Pat Cremin said: "We've actually played an ineligible player and it came about because of a misinterpretation of the rules.
"It's three points dropped which we've worked hard for and we've held our hands up to it.
"I can only remember it happening to this club once before a long time ago when Phil Mullen was in charge here."
The Reds have also called off their New Year's Day fixture against Moor Green and rearranged it for Monday, January 3 for a 1pm kick off.
